Exclusive Composer Masterclass with Jeff Rona (God of War III, Devil May Cry 5) and Helge Borgarts (The Surge 2)
Saturday, August 31, 2019, 09:00am – 06:00pm
We are very happy to announce another workshop with Jeff Rona:
A dynamic and hands-on video game scoring workshop lead by composers Jeff Rona and Helge Borgarts. The full-day masterclass is aimed at beginners as well as experienced composers who want to learn different composing techniques for video games. Participants will expand their skills to compose emotional and effective interactive music for different genres and styles.
After registering, participants will receive a short sequence or gameplay situation from a game to which they have to compose music with the help of detailed producer's notes in the run-up to the masterclass.
In order to work on their music on site at Soundtrack_Cologne and implement the prepared music as a test in an interactive audio engine, the participants will have to bring along their own mobile music rigs.
Jeff Rona composed music for games like "God of War 3", "Devil May Cry 5", "Far Cry 4" and "Du Lac and Fey" as well as for numerous movies and TV series. Helge Borgarts provided music and sound for games like "The Surge 2", "The Surge: The Good, the Bad, the Augmented", "The Climb" and "Bring Them Home".
The Jeff Rona Masterclass is limited to 12 active participants, selected in order of registration. The price is 175 €.
In addition to the active participation, there is the opportunity to attend as an observer. The number of observers is limited to three, selected in order of registration. Tickets cost 85 €.
After the registration, applicants will receive an email with a link to download a short sequence from the game.
For a successful workshop attendance the following things are necessary:
- A musical draft composed independedly for the provided game sequence as MP3 or WAV file (only for the active participants)
- All application forms have to be completed and correctly filled in (for active participants and passive observers)
- Technical basic requirement for composing on a local workstation: laptop computer with DAW, headphones, music-synchronous film playback (e.g. directly in the DAW), midi-keyboard (for active participants only)
- An accreditation to SoundTrack_Cologne (for active participants and passive observers!)
