Born and raised in Essen, studied in Bremen, where he founded Cinema Musica – Europe’s only print magazine for film music which he published, formed and edited. When it comes to film music, his assessments tend to point out how for it serves the film, the best film music being the one that is able to enrich a film in a way that wasn’t there before without stealing the focus on the other cinematic arts as film is a gesamtkunstwerk. He hosted panels at various film music festivals in Germany. His favourite movies can be found somewhere inbetween Billy Wilder’s The Apartment and Darren Aronofsky’s Requiem for Dream
